Diamond Blair
A Jackson County judge put a career criminal away forever Friday for a robbery and murder in Midtown.
Diamond Blair, 37, was sentenced to two life terms plus 100 years.
Jurors convicted him of second-degree murder, robbery and two counts of armed criminal action for the June 24, 2009 crimes. He shot 22-year-old Montague Kevin Ashline to death outside apartments at 36th Street and Baltimore Avenue.
Blair comes from a criminal family so extensive that his own lawyer in another case once said he was “born to a family of murderers.”
His mother was charged with two murders and convicted of one. His uncle Terry Blair was convicted in 2008 of murdering six women.
Diamond Blair was first arrested at age 6 and many other arrests and convictions followed.
He is already serving a 23-year federal prison sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
