Business licenses payments due Feb. 28

quicktaxThe City reminds  business owners that the annual business license applications and payments are due by Friday, Feb. 28, 2014.

The city also says the Revenue Division has updated many of its tax forms in conjunction with the City’s new tax administration system. Included in these updates is a revamping of the current occupational license tax forms (RD-101, RD-102 and RD-104 forms) to make the forms more user-friendly. For the first time, an electronic filing option is available. Businesses may file and pay using Quick Tax, the online revenue portal at https://quicktax.kcmo.org/. In addition, businesses that prefer paper forms and instructions will find them online at www.kcmo.org/finance . Please choose the “Tax forms” link. Please note: the City will launch a new website on Jan. 10. When the new site launches, please visit www.kcmo.gov/tax for paper forms and instructions.

New businesses or existing businesses changing their location, name or legal structure are required to complete a registration application and submit it to the Business License Section at 1118 Oak St., Kansas City, MO 64106 or via fax to 816-513-1264.

Failure to file and make payment by Feb. 28, 2014 will result in penalties and interest being assessed.

Taxpayers who have questions about their business license obligations may contact the Revenue Division Business License Section at 816-513-1135.
