Business incubator opens at 50th and Prospect

Residents of urban neighborhoods have long asked for help fostering entrepreneurship and job creation.

Now they have the Blue Hills Business Center and Contractor Incubator at 5008 Prospect Ave which officially opened its door last week.

“The $3.3 million center once was an abandoned building on a brownfield in the City’s urban core,” according to a city press release.  “Now it’s a LEED Gold and Energy Star-certified structure that houses a business incubator designed to spark new jobs and training in the Green Impact Zone.”

“The project was built with the help of small construction companies, and the incubator will continue to work with these small businesses by providing additional training and support with bid preparation, project management and obtaining lines of credit. The project also provides office space for lease, public meeting space, offices for community services and a home repair and weatherization center,” the city said.
