Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation joined local partners last weekend in cutting the ribbon on the refurbished Bancroft School Apartments.
The foundation and its local partners – Dalmark Group, Neighborhood Housing Services and the Green Impact Zone – cut the ribbon Nov. 9.
And the foundation’s Taylor Royle is talking up Kansas City on the Make it Right blog.
“All of us at Make It Right are big fans of Kansas City, Missouri – its grand parks and fountains, stately old homes, schools and office buildings and the beautiful fall colors you see everywhere around town this time of year,” she wrote.
The project means the surplus school, built in 1904 and abandoned for more than 13 years, will be reopened as 50 affordable, LEED platinum rental units. It also houses an auditorium, gym, computer labs and gardens. New towns homes were built around the perimeter of the school.
