Additional race alerts for this weekend’s American Royal parade

We already warned you about a couple of races that will close down streets around Rockhurst University this weekend, but here’s a new alert we just got about downtown closures.

The city says the American Royal parade will bring thousands of walkers, riders and motor vehicles to the streets of downtown Kansas City Saturday, September 28. The parade will block streets from eastbound Truman Road to 27th Street from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The parade will run about 1.25 miles on Grand Boulevard from Truman Road to Crown Center. The following streets will be impacted:

  • Truman Road – from Baltimore Avenue to McGee Street
  • Baltimore Avenue – from Truman Road to 19th Street
  • Main Street – from 20th Street to 27th Street
  • Walnut Street – from Truman Road to 20th Street
  • Grand Boulevard – from Truman Road to Crown Center
  • McGee Street – from Truman Road to 19th Street
  • West Pennway Road – from Southwest Boulevard south
  • Southwest Boulevard – from Broadway Boulevard to Baltimore Avenue
  • Pershing Road – From West Penway Street to Main Street
  • Kessler Road – From Pershing Road to the Liberty Memorial Mall
