The Kansas City Police Department is getting some fresh blood. Tonight 26 men and women will graduate from the police academy. By Sunday, they’ll be on the streets with their field training officers. The department says dozens of officers have retired this year, so the new class is much needed.
At the police academy, new officers receive extensive training in the law, patrol tactics, criminal investigation, firearms, defensive tactics, driving and more.
