Council chooses 5th district replacement

The city council announced the appointment of a 5th district council representative to replace Michael Brooks, who resigned in December.

Cokethea Hill has been chosen for the seat. As part of this public process the City Council interviewed three finalists recommended by a citizen’s committee. The finalists included Rianna Deselich, Ruth Turner and Hill.  None of the finalists is running in this year’s council elections.

Cokethea Hill will be sworn in on Jan. 28 and will serve until a new City Council takes office on Aug. 1, 2015.
