old-house-expoMidtown residents with old homes may be interested in the second annual Old House Expo planned for Saturday, Feb. 6. It is a joint effort of Historic Kansas City and the Young Preservationists, KC that includes information and networking opportunities.

Here’s more from Historic Kansas City:

The Old House Expo will feature on-site exhibitor booths with vendors, contractors, banks, architects, and professional and nonprofit services specializing in preserving, restoring, and renovating historic homes. Education sessions will include topics such as window restoration, house maintenance, a plaster repair workshop, period paint schemes, and several rehabilitation case studies. In addition, Historic Kansas City volunteers will be offering research assistance to allow attendees to learn more about the history of their homes.

This year Historic Kansas City welcomes special guest Bernice Radle as keynote speaker. Bernice is the owner of Buffalove Development, host of American Rehab: Buffalo on HGTV and DIY Network and Regional Director for City Dining Cards. Her preservation and rehab work has been featured in media publications such as the New York Times, Atlantic Cities, Huffington Post, TedX and HGTV. She currently serves on the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Buffalo and is an active member of many organizations including the Preservation Right Sizing Network and Buffalo’s Young Preservationists.

Her keynote speech is entitled Preservation 2.0: Combating the Vacancy Vortex.
