Weekend races and bike tours could affect traffic

Couple of races and bicycle tours you should know about this weekend.

The Hope Challenge 5K takes place Saturday, June 14 from about 8-11 a.m. and will temporarily block the below streets. Please note, police are prepared to allow motorists to cross the routes when they deem it safe for race participants.

  • Oak Street, between East 45th Street and East 54th Street
  • Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard, between Oak Street and Jefferson Street
  • Jefferson Street, between Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and Ward Parkway
  • Ward Parkway, between Jefferson Street and Brookside Boulevard
  • Brookside Boulevard, between Ward Parkway and East 54th Street
  • East 54th Street, between Brookside Boulevard and Oak Street

The KC Century Ride to Boulevardia takes place Saturday, June 14 from about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. While this bicycle race will not close any streets, motorists should be aware of cyclists riding between the West Bottoms south to Waldo.

The Ride the Fountains bicycle tour takes place Sunday, June 15 from about 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will close Pershing Road between Main Street and Kessler Road. While there are no other road closures, motorists should be aware of cyclists riding from Crown Center south to Waldo, and between the state line east to Swope Parkway.
