Work starts on Ambassador apartments

ambassadorPreliminary construction work started recently at the Ambassador apartments on Broadway and renovation could be completed by the end of the year.

It marks the effort by MAC Property Management to extend to Broadway its extensive renovation work along Armour Boulevard.

Peter Cassel, company director, said they expect the Ambassador, 3560 Broadway, to be finished by the end of the year or early next year.

Its almost 200 small units will be reduced to about 120 larger ones.

The Ambassador, designed in 1924 by noted Kansas City architect Nelle Peters, once featured famous jazz bands.

In other area activity, a new jazz bar recently opened across the street from it. And other developers have already renovated the Valentine and the Chatham apartment buildings near the Ambassador on Broadway.

MAC properties has renovated about two dozen historic apartment/hotel buildings along Armour from Troost to Broadway.

The company features modern fixtures and appliances in its apartments and says its massive investment in the area signals they are planning for the long term.
