Williams appointed city planning director

city-hallThe city has a new director of Planning and Development. City manager Troy Schulte said Jeffery Williams has been appointed to the position. Williams became the Principal Assistant to the Planning Director in July 2013. Since December 2014, Williams has served as the acting planning director and has been responsible for administering the department.

The announcement comes on the heels of an announcement yesterday that former Director of Planning Bob Langenkamp has been permanently named president and CEO of the Economic Development Corporation.

Williams has 25 years’ experience working in the fields of urban design, historic preservation, and city planning for local and county government agencies. Prior to joining Kansas City’s Planning and Development Department, Williams has served as the Commissioner of Planning and Development for the cities of Yonkers, New York and Mount Vernon, New York. He has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute and an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) designation from the American Planning Association.
