Who’s first in line to see the President?

Darlene Ford of Hyde Park and Trish Harmon of Brookside hope to be the first in line to get into the president’s speech at the Uptown today. In fact, they were already in line at 8 p.m. last night, prepared to spend the night.

Ford was first in line when tickets became available on Monday morning, after waiting in line for 24 hours.

She and Harmon got red tickets, which they hope means they will be among the first allowed to enter the theater before the 11 a.m. speech today.

Ford said she appreciates the chance to see the president without having to pay the hefty price that comes with going to a fundraiser.

Harmon said when she heard Obama was coming to the Uptown she thought, “That’s really close. That’s doable.”

Many folks stopped by the Uptown last night to take a picture of the marquee or have one taken of them under it.

For some, that may be as close as they get to the president, but Ford and Harmon definitely plan to get closer.
