Whole Person needs volunteers to clean up yards of people with disabilities

whole personThe Whole Person, a Midtown nonprofit that serves people with disabilities, is looking for help doing yard work for its consumers.

For a project called “Planting Independence,” the Whole Person needs volunteers to clean up the yards of twenty folks who have a disability that makes it hard for them to mow, pull weeds or trim hedges. Most of the homes are in Midtown, but the group is short of volunteers and may have to turn away some of the people who asked to have their yards cleaned up.

The Whole Person is especially hoping to hear from families, schools, clubs, organizations and businesses that might want to pitch in. The cleanup is planned for Saturday, June 4 from 8 a.m. to noon and volunteer groups need to send one representative to a training session on May 25 at 5:30 p.m.

Please contact Kelly Grooms at 816-627-2232 or email to kgrooms@thewholeperson.org if your group would like to provide support.
