Westport Center for the Arts presents holiday performance

If your taste in Christmas stories runs to James Thurber and Truman Capote, Westport Center for the Arts has a holiday program for you.

“American Christmas, Too,” Dec. 14 and 16 at Prospero’s Uptown Books, 3600 Broadway, features actors Nancy Marcy and Robert Gibby Brand performing selections from James Thurber, Truman Capote, Ogden Nash, Richard Armour and Timothy Hoare.

Local musician Kelly Werts provides musical accompaniment.

Robert Gibby Brand has performed roles for the Metropolitan Ensemble Theater, the Unicorn the KC Rep, Actor’s Theatre of Kansas City, the New Theatre, the American Heartland, the Coterie Theatre, Quality Hill Playhouse and the Lyric Opera. Nancy Marcy was the Education Director for the Coterie Theater and is a professional actress who has performed roles at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, The Unicorn, American Heartland Theatre and the Coterie.

Kelly Werts is an accomplished musician who has performed regionally for over 30 years.

  • Performances are at 7:30 p.m. both nights.
  •  Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors.
  • Financial assistance for this project has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency, and the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City.
