The Kansas City Public School Repurposing Office has sent out an update on projects that are currently underway.

In Midtown, the former Swinney Elementary School site is under development as a mixed-used development.

According to the update provided by Swinney Development Partners, “environmental abatement work has begun inside the school itself and site work is now visible on the north side of the property. The playground is out and dirt/debris is/will be hauled away. Over the next several weeks, construction crews will be focused on completing exterior site work in preparation for pouring the footings for the new concrete slab and interior demolition in preparation for apartment conversion.”

The project is expected to be completed in November or December of 2015.

The repurposing office also says that Foutch Brothers, LLC and Kansas City Sustainable Development Partners will present their proposals for Westport High School to the community in early January.
