Updates on Kansas City repurposed schools

The Kansas City School District repurposing office has offered an update on several of the schools it has sold.

The office says Seven Oaks Estates, LP, the Historic East Neighborhood Coalition, and the Seven Oaks Neighborhood Association who held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, September 2nd to celebrate the opening of Seven Oaks Estates. “The former Seven Oaks school site, which had been a vacant since 1997, is now providing 45 residential apartments for seniors in the area. Many residents are former Seven Oaks students and teaching staff. Since its opening the site has been generating a new wave of excitement throughout the neighborhood,” the update said.

Repurposing of the Blenheim School, 2411 E 70th Terrace, is moving along. The school board approved its to Sunflower Development Group (SDG) for reuse as a senior affordable housing development at its board meeting on Wednesday, July 23rd. SDG has successfully completed multiple historic renovation projects in the Kansas City area. The sale is contingent upon the developer receiving tax credits from the state.
