For those wanting to watch big aggressive birds, the 19th annual eagle days at Smithville Lake are Jan. 4 and 5.

Outdoor viewing stations will offer opportunities to view eagles and the waterfowl they feed on.

Eagles migrate through Missouri each winter and stay near rivers and lakes with open water, where they feed on fish or waterfowl.

Snowy owls have also been seen in the state this winter, including one at Smithville Lake in early December.

As part of the Smithville Lake events, educational talks featuring captive eagles will be also be offered at the Paradise Point Golf Course Complex in Little Platte Park at 18212 Golf Course Road.

The shows Saturday will be at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. The shows Sunday will be at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.
