Small businesses, especially minority, disadvantaged and female-owned companies, can get tips for how to get work on publicly-funded construction projects at an upcoming workshop.
The city is partnering with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to present a symposium at 1-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at the Robert J. Mohart Center, 3200 Wayne Ave.
The city says the symposium will address city, state and federal projects. Topics include prevailing wage laws, HUD Section 3 requirements, city and state certification requirements, capital, bonding, insurance and licensing. Participants also will receive information on upcoming construction projects in the metro area being funded by HUD, Federal Home Administration, Missouri Housing Development Commission, Kansas City Housing Authority and the City of Kansas City, Missouri. The event is free, but pre-registration is requested.
