Shuttle to parade, other bus info for today

plaza shuttleMidtown residents on their way to the Royals parade this morning can catch a free shuttle from the Plaza. The shuttles will pick up people on the east side of 47th Street between Pennsylvania and Broadway/Wornall and at 47th Street and Wyandotte. The destination/dropoff point will be 27th Street and Main downtown.

The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority says transit agencies across the metro area will be offering free bus fares and shuttles for fans wanting to attend the Kansas City Royals’ championship parade and victory celebration.

Information about all routes and schedules

Free shuttles will be operating from select park-and-rides lots across the Kansas City area. Buses will start operating at 9 a.m. with departure times varying based on the demand for each shuttle.

The parade starts at noon on Grand Boulevard between the Sprint Center and the Kansas City Power & Light District. The rally starts at 2 p.m. in front of Union Station where fans can watch the festivities from the north lawn of the National World War 1 Museum and Memorial.

Also Tuesday, bus routes serving the downtown area will be significantly disrupted during the parade and rally. Riders who depend on bus service to travel to downtown should review passenger bulletins at: http://ridekc.org/bulletins/parade-reroutes

All service into downtown will be diverted to Troost and will not serve the area west of the parade after 9 a.m. The reroutes require all express bus service to pick up at two central downtown locations – 12th & Troost and 27th & Main – during the afternoon rush hour.
