Scouts learn outdoor skills at Discovery Center

Scouts from across the metro area came to the Discovery Center, 4750 Troost, to work on merit badges and master outdoor skills on Saturday. Gerri Dietsch of Blue Springs helped her son Dallas learn how to start a fire without a match. The Missouri Department of Conservation hosted Scout Day at the center to help boys and girls in Scouting earn merit badges or rank advancement for mastering a variety of outdoor skills. The Discovery Center includes a building that houses Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources as well as ten acres of gardens, wetlands, walkways and wildlife.
