Sad fate of 17 who didn’t put their junk in their trunk

Crime fighters around Kansas City have been trying to get people to think about this message: put your junk in your trunk.

The campaign reminds people that cars with easy-to-spot items are fast pickins for thieves.

According to James Schriever of the police department, 17 people in Central Patrol Division did not put their junk in their trunk last weekend.

“Community Partners, we desperately need your help in reducing these types of thefts,” Schriever says. “Realistically we can reduce this crime by over 90 percent if we can educate our community to take a few moments to protect their items of value.”

“Remember, it takes less than 15 seconds to break your window and steal your property and it doesn’t make a lot of noise,” he tells us.
