Time to dump the Christmas tree and maybe its lights, too.

Kansas City is recycling Christmas trees and lights for residents. Trees can be recycled at two leaf and brush drop-off centers through January 12.

One center is at 1815 N. Chouteau Trafficway and is open from Wednesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The other is at 10301 Raytown Road and is open Saturday only from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both sites are free for residents to use on Saturdays. Residents who dispose of trees on other days at the Chouteau center will be charged $5 per tree.

Used lighting can be taken to the city’s three recycling centers at 40 N.W. Barry Road, 4707 Deramus Ave., and 9051 Hillcrest Road.
