At city hall, the council took action to deny a city vote on a downtown hotel. The council also approved a plan that would give vets free parking in metered city spaces.

The state Board of Education gave the final approval Citizens of the World charter school needs to open two Midtown schools next year.

And the streetcar authority put out a call for drivers as it waits for cars to be delivered.
