Polsinelli Law Firm opens in West Plaza

The Polsenilli Law Firm has opened its new building at 48th and Belleview.

The grand opening ends eight years of construction around what was once called the West Edge project in the West Plaza neighborhood.

Polsenilli celebrated the opening yesterday. The building now houses its 450 local employees.

The Kansas City Star recounts the long process that led up to the opening of the building.

Bob Bernstein and Trilogy Development broke ground to much fanfare in December of 2005 for the West Edge Project, intended to be an 11-story office building and seven-story hotel. Architect Moshe Safdie had designed with “Safdie’s signature grand atriums and multiple terraces stepped to create the impression of a ‘hillside village,” the Star said.

But construction stalled in 2008 and Trilogy went bankrupt in 2009. VanTrust Real Estate then took over the project.

The Hotel Sorella just to the south of the Polsinelli building opened last week.
