The 44th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade will march through Midtown on Thursday – show time for a year’s work by its planning committee.

But within a month, the volunteers who put it together will start on next year’s parade.

“There is no rest for the weary,” said Amy Moses, senior co-chair of the parade committee.

But they will get to enjoy the outcome of their labor.

The non-profit group governed by a board of directors will have 100 volunteers working Thursday for a very large parade, Moses said.

There are so far about 130 groups registered to participate, and seven judges will choose the winning floats and groups.

Among things they will look at is how well groups mesh with this year’s theme of “Blarney on Broadway.”

The parade starts at Broadway and Linwood at 11 a.m. and will go down Broadway to 43rd Street, ending at about 1:30 or 2.

Other judicial criteria include the decorations and how well organized people are, Moses said. Oh, and “we do like to see a lot of green.”

The weather is supposed to be nice and “the earlier you can get there, the better,” she said. “Find your spot and camp out.”

Updates on parking will be at www.kCIrishparade.com.

Not long after winners are chosen and the trash cleared, there is a fundraiser to plan and grants to apply for to help fund next year’s parade.
