Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed Jennifer M. Phillips as a Jackson County Circuit Court judge.
She replaces Edith Messina who recently retired.
Phillips has served as an assistant Jackson County prosecutor since 2002 and is a chief trial assistant there with the violent crimes unit.
She also has worked with the Kansas City No Violence Alliance of federal, state and Kansas City law enforcement officials and social service groups.
Before she became a prosecutor, she was legal counsel for the Missouri Department of Revenue.
