New date for Westport school repurposing presentation

untitled-(4-of-33)The Kansas City School District repurposing office has set a date for new Westport High School and Westport Middle School presentations.

On February 4, 2015, the district will host Westport High proposal presentations by Foutch Brothers, LLC and Kansas City Sustainable Development Partners, LLC (KCSDP).  In addition, KCSDP will present its revised redevelopment proposal for Westport Middle to the community for consideration.

Neighborhood leaders had asked the school district to let KCSDP put its proposal back on the table after charter school Academie Lafayette announced it would not move into the school. The district had recommended selling the school to Foutch Brothers, but the school board voted against the sale last year.

The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. but a location has not yet been announced.

The district also announced it closed on the sale of West-Switzer and Switzer Annex to Foutch Brothers, LLC for use as a mixed-used development on January 8. Construction is expected to begin in spring of this year.

The repurposing office says Foutch Brothers will host its second public meeting prior to finalizing its site plan to discuss the project’s progress and garner community feedback on January 14, 2015 at the Tony Aguirre Community Center starting at 5:30 p.m.
