Midtown cooling centers open for heat relief

Temperatures are expected to reach 100 degrees today and stay up there for much of the next week. They city is advising people who don’t have air conditioning or who otherwise need to get a break from the heat to go to a cooling center. The Salvation Army at 500 W. 39th is the closest Midtown cooling center. Volunteers there will provide cool drinks and may even be able to provide fans and air conditioning units to those in need.

The Salvation Army at 500 W. 39th Street is Midtown’s cooling center. It will be open from 8 a.m. to at least 5 p.m. until the heat advisory is lifted.
