For the third year, the Middle of the Map Festival is shining a spotlight on local music, culture and film over the next two months.
The festival is the brainchild of Nathan Reusch of the Record Machine, a local label, who wanted to promote community within the Kansas City music scene. That initial concept that brought together local musicians has now expanded to bring artists from around to world to Westport.
Musical venues this year include: Record Bar, Riot Room, The Uptown Theater, Union, Gusto Lounge, and Westport Coffeehouse. The Music Fest activities occur April 4-6.
On April 17-19, The Forum will bring together speakers, technology and cultural panels, and performance artists. The Film Fest takes place May 1-5.
