A man has been arrested and charged with attempting to rape an unconscious woman inside a downtown bar, Jackson County prosecutors announced Monday.
Dennis A. Skeen, 38, of Blue Springs is charged with one count of attempted rape, one count of sodomy and one count of sexual abuse.
Skeen is listed on state records as an owner of the Downtown Pizza Co., 1501 Grand Blvd., the Kansas City Star reports.
The Pizza restaurant shares a space with Dukes on Grand, a bar.
According to court records:
Three witnesses walking by the bar at about 6 a.m. Saturday saw the unconscious victim naked from the waist down with Skeen apparently having sex with her.
One witness banged on the window and Skeen dragged the victim toward the back of the establishment.
Police came, arrested Skeen and got the victim to a hospital.
She told them she had been sitting at the bar with Skeen at about 3 a.m. and did not remember anything after Skeen gave her two shots of some alcoholic beverage.
Video surveillance DVR showed Skeen groping the woman, putting her on the floor and pulling off her shorts before he unzips his shorts while kneeling between her legs.
