Jackson County prosecutors on Wednesday charged a Kansas City man within hours of a fatal shooting near city hall.
Rickey C. Battee, 25, is charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Jai T. Scott.
A video from a metro bus showed an encounter between the two men, according to court records.
“The victim can be seen on the video walking south bound on Oak when the suspect produces a handgun and shoots the victim,” records state.
A witness told police she saw the suspect kick the victim’s car as the victim drove by. The victim got out and the two men fought and the witness heard shots, records state.
Scott was found near 11th and Oak streets and soon died at a hospital.
