Man charged in downtown meat cleaver robbery

The prosecutor’s office says a man has been charged in an armed robbery involving a meat cleaver Downtown on Saturday, Dec. 7.

According to a police report, a 29-year-old man allegedly threatened a clerk at the CVS store in the 900 block of Main Street Saturday afternoon.

He threatened the clerk by putting a meat cleaver to her neck. After taking money from the cash register, witnesses followed the robber. He boarded an ATA bus and had both the meat cleaver and the money when police took him into custody.

Ronaldo D. Conway  faces Robbery 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.
