Man charged with Brookside bank robbery

A Kansas City man has been charged in the Monday robbery of a bank in Brookside, federal prosecutors said today.

Casey M. Widman, 58, allegedly showed a black pistol and robbed the Bank Midwest, 6249 Brookside Blvd.

According to court records:

He told a teller he wanted to make a withdrawal in “all fifties and hundreds.” She gave him money and he fled with $838.

A witness told police he saw a blue Ford Taurus with a driver and two passengers parked outside the bank and it left immediately after the robbery.

An officer saw a car like that and when it stopped at a gas station arrested all three occupants, including Widman.

Federal agents searched the car and found a pellet pistol. They searched Widman and found $389 under his right boot sole.

The other car occupants have not been charged, prosecutors said.
