Striving for political power, advocates for low-wage workers gathered at the Kansas City election board Thursday to register voters.
Many people registered to vote for the first time as part of a nationwide effort supporting a minimum wage of $15 an hour.
They also want union rights for fast food, childcare, homecare and other underpaid workers.
Advocates like Stand Up KC say the power of 64 million low-wage workers should be a strong voting force.
