Linwood/31st streetcar line proposal to be discussed tonight

The city’s community meetings about streetcar expansion continue tonight with a focus on the Linwood/31st Street Corridor.

The city is studying eight potential expansion routes for the streetcar lines to follow the starter line downtown. Tonight’s meeting will offer residents, businesses and organizations along Linwood and 31st Streets an opportunity to provide input about how a potential streetcar might impact them.

The Linwood/31st Street Corridor route would begin at Main Street and travel east. However, the city is still seeking input from residents about how far east the line would go. It is also asking people for input into whether the line would be better placed on Linwood or 31st, as well as how it might impact quality of life in neighborhoods, business and development in the area.

(Disclosure: the Midtown KC Post’s Mary Jo Draper is on the NextRail KC project team).
