We celebrated a late but much welcomed spring in Midtown. We featured an Easter egg hunt in the Valentine neighborhood that celebrated parents of young children; we shared a video of the Department of Conservation doing a small prairie fire burn on Troost; and offered some tips of what to do if bats invade your home.

In the political arena, we discussed the new debate over whether the police department should be returned to local control, the controversial plans for a single-terminal airport; and the “ban the box” measure to help ex-offenders find jobs.

We learned more about the city’s budget for demolition of abandoned properties; the signs going up to remind drivers to share the road with bikes; and how to sign up for alerts about upcoming roadwork.

We welcomed Connecting for Good, a nonprofit trying to bridge the digital divide, to Midtown, and learned about how a Westport Pizza restaurant is supporting a not-for-profit arts program on the same property.

Finally, we tossed in a dose of local history with a preview of a new local history award and a Jefferson Day celebration in Westport.
