Langenkamp named head of EDC

langenkampFormer City Planning Director Bob Langenkamp has been permanently named president and CEO of the Kansas City Economic Development Corporation. He had been interim president since last December.

Langenkamp has worked for the City since 1989 and has been involved in most of the major redevelopment projects undertaken during this period. He had been an assistant city manager since 2009 and was appointed as the director of city planning in 2012.

Here’s more from a city announcement:

“Bob’s leadership in various city planning and development roles has been marked by exemplary professional service,” James said. “He brings nationally recognized expertise and deep local experience to one of the most important roles for the future of Kansas City.”

Bridgette Williams, chair of the EDC Board of Directors, said the stakes are high at the EDC, which manages the efforts of six statutory redevelopment agencies serving Kansas City.

“When it comes to business, nothing trumps intelligence, integrity and energy,” Williams said. “Those are three key attributes that describe Bob Langenkamp, and we believe that Bob has what it takes to build a solid and strong economic development entity for Kansas City.”

James today also announced the appointment of Jeff Krum to the EDC board. Krum succeeds Clyde McQueen, whose term on the board expired. Krum has been associated with Boulevard Brewing Co. as a partner, officer and director since its inception in 1989.
