A Jackson County judge last week convicted a Kansas City man of voluntary manslaughter.
Antoine L. Clark, 22, will be sentenced later for shooting James Ward to death on the street at 8316 Prospect.
According to court records:
Witnesses said the killing happened on May 26 during a dispute over a stolen gun.
The victim got upset when Clark and others told him to return the stolen gun and hit Clark, who pulled a gun and shot him repeatedly.
He shot him in the legs, the shoulders, the neck and then twice in the head, a witness said.
Clark was arrested later in Overland Park and a search of his cell phone showed an Internet search for “what gets gun dust out of your skin?”
He is a prior and persistent offender, with previous convictions for drug possession and trafficking.
