Judge says Gordon Parks school will remain open

A judge has ruled that the State Board of Education violated state law when it ordered the Gordon Parks Elementary school to close. That means the charter will be renewed and the school will remain open.

“This is welcome news for the Gordon Parks extended family of students, families, alumni, staff, volunteers and supporters,” Doug Curry, President, Gordon Parks Elementary School Board, said after the ruling.  “The Court’s judgment means Gordon Parks Elementary School will be able to continue its mission by enrolling and educating students for kindergarten, first and second grade classes this fall.”

Curry has scheduled a press conference for this afternoon. The Midtown KC Post will have more details after the press conference.
