Interstate 35 is open just in time for Christmas.
Massive downtown bridgework is completed and the highway is among the last to reopen.
The state spent more than $40 million to repair 18 bridges and ramps, disrupting traffic for months.
Now 35 is back in action, including the long closed and sorely missed on-ramp from Broadway to 35.
Decking, not replaced since the 1940s, was put on 35 and ramps were repaired.
The Missouri Department of Transportation said in a recent press release that “it was absolutely necessary to cut in half the available lanes to do $40 million worth of work in 40 weeks and finish in one season.”
So Merry Christmas.
