Former Royals star Frank White was sworn in Monday as Jackson County executive.

The county legislature selected White, who had served a year on it, to be executive for the rest of the year.

He replaces Fred Arbanas, who had served as executive since Mike Sanders resigned on Jan. 5.

“I am humbled by the support of my colleagues,” White said. “I am looking forward to working with the administrative team to continue the success of the past two years.”

Primary elections will be held in August and the general election in November, with the winner to start as county executive office next year.

White has said he will consider running for the job full time.

He grew up in Kansas City and worked as a laborer on Kauffman Stadium, where he later spent 18 years with the Royals.

“We have a good team in place, and I’m excited to work with them to make sure Jackson County residents and businesses can win,” White said in a media release.
