The final public meeting on the future of KCI is tonight in Johnson County.

The Airport Terminal Advisory Group has started deliberating on what to recommend next month but is holding this meeting for more input.

It will be at Polsky Theater at Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd. in Overland Park from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

People asking to speak will be asked to give questions, names and addresses in writing and limit talk to 2 minutes.

This is the third public meeting on the matter. In two others, many praised the convenience of KCI, with its three-terminal design.

One of those terminals has already been closed, however, and the two others will need millions of dollars in work and even after it will still be obsolete in some ways, experts say.

Members of the study group have said that convenience will be a major consideration in whatever it recommends next month.

Three options they have cited: Repairs and upgrades to the existing terminals, keeping the terminals but build a central processing building for them, or build a new single terminal airport.
