Easter morning Midtown worship service planned

unnamedMidtown’s Pilgrim Chapel is inviting the community to its annual Easter morning service.

After the service, you can walk across the street, where the 17th annual Hyde Park Spring Frolic and Egg Hunt will be getting underway.  There will be free pony rides, games, crafts and a traditional egg hunt.

Organizers say this year’s Easter morning service at Pilgrim Chapel  will be held outdoors if weather permits it. Musical selections will include old-time gospel songs, such as “Rock of Ages” and “Old Rugged Cross” performed by KC’s Blues icon Danny Cox & Family as well as Bob Walkenhorst, Joe Miquelon, Kaye & Michael Johnston, and others.  There will be a presentation of Zacchaeus and the Rattlesnake Church, a spiritual tale with a moral punch about a ministerial student who volunteers to preach at a rural church that, unbeknownst to him, handles poisonous snakes.  Zacchaeus was written and will be presented by Dr. Roger Coleman, co-pastor of Pilgrim Chapel, with assistance from Brooks Gentleman.  Dr. Coleman and his wife Elizabeth will lead the Easter celebration, which will include the Eucharist and other elements of a traditional Easter worship service.
