Councilwoman Marcason elected president of Missouri Municipal League

Fourth District Councilwoman Jan Marcason has been elected president of the Missouri Municipal League (MML) at the organization’s annual conference today.

“I am pleased to represent the interests of our state’s municipalities. MML is an important advocacy organization that works on behalf of municipalities that are large and small, urban and rural, in all parts of Missouri,” said Councilwoman Marcason.

Here’s more from a city announcement:

Councilwoman Marcason previously served as the MML’s vice president and as a member of the MML Board of Directors and the Resolutions Committee.

The Missouri Municipal League was organized in 1934 as an agency for the cooperation of Missouri cities, towns and villages. MML aims to strengthen cities through a united voice, cooperation, effective services and a proactive agenda.

Previous MML presidents include many former Kansas City, Mo., mayors and elected officials: Bill Skaggs, Judith Swope, Richard Berkley, Joanne Collins, Victor Swyden, Charles Wheeler, Ilus Davis and H. Roe Bartle and William Kemp.
