Central Patrol gets a new commander

police-departmentThe Kansas City Police Department has announced a change of command at Central Patrol.

Major Wayne Stewart, who has been commander for five years, will be transferred to become commander of the regional police academy. Under Stewart’s command, overall crime in Central Patrol decreased over the last five years.

He’ll be replaced by Captain Shawn Wadle, who will be promoted to the rank of major and will be assigned as Central Patrol’s division commander. Most recently, Major Wadle has been working in the narcotics and vice unit. Before that, he served a watch II commander at Central Patrol.

The change is effective January 6.
