Celebrate the end of summer at Sly’s Rock the Block on Aug. 18

The City of Kansas City, Mo., invites the public to celebrate the conclusion of a fun and safe summer at Sly’s Rock the Block on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 4 p.m. to midnight on the Troost Avenue Bridge, between 47th Terrace and Volker Boulevard.

Sly’s Rock the Block is a free event featuring family-friendly attractions during the day, including face painting, inflatables and information booths. Free food will be served from 5-7:30 p.m. while supplies last. “America’s Got Talent” finalists Maurice and Shanice Hayes will make a guest appearance, and the Hearts of Darkness Band will provide entertainment.

In the evening, the final Club KC of the summer will take place for youth in middle school and high school. Club KC will feature a live DJ and dancing on the bridge. Security will be provided.

Free parking will be available at the Discovery Center at 4750 Troost Ave. and at the Kauffman Foundation at 4801 Rockhill Road.
