Bus riders: be prepared for delays

We have some new information this morning from the Area Transportation Authority.

Metro buses are using regular routes, but are running a reduced schedule. Customers are encouraged to be prepared for delays.

Customers can track their buses using our live bus-tracking tool, WebWatch, at http://www.kcata.org/maps_schedules/webwatch/ or a mobile-friendly bus tracker, http://itsab.us/tracker. Metro bus customers can contact the Regional Call Center at (816) 221-0660 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays to learn if the snow reroute plan is in effect.

MetroFlex routes are also reduced, and the 237-Gladstone-Antioch MetroFlex is not running today due to impassable side streets. MetroFlex is flexible, on-demand bus service that operates on neighborhood streets. Until streets are cleared, MetroFlex customers will need to board buses along a street that has been cleared.

Details of the emergency snow reroute plan are available at http://www.kcata.org.

Travel Tips for Metro Customers

  • · Please use caution getting on and off buses. We expect thawing and refreezing over the next several days.
  • · Dress for the weather.
  • · Carry a cellphone.
  • · Be cautious walking to the bus stops and boarding buses.

Share-A-Fare Urges Riders To Cancel

Due to unsafe conditions on some side streets and neighborhoods, Share-A-Fare strongly encourages riders to cancel or reschedule all non-medical trips on Friday, Feb. 22.

Share-A-Fare (SAF) is a transportation program that provides alternate transportation to persons whose disability prevents them from using the regular fixed route bus service.

Questions can be addressed to the Share-A-Fare office at (816) 842-9070.
