Bike share poll shows most interest in Valentine and Broadway, so far

bcycle Our poll on future bike sharing in Midtown is getting some interesting results. So far, the most responses have come from the Southmoreland neighborhood, followed by Roanoke, South Hyde Park and Volker.

And the site most requested for bike sharing stations so far is at the shopping center at Valentine and Broadway. That’s followed by interest in 39th and Broadway, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and 39th and Valentine.

Our respondents have also told us that there are several things that keep them from biking in Midtown: safety concerns being the biggest one, followed by hills. There’s still time to respond to our poll, which is open through the end of the month.

About the poll The Midtown KC Post is working with BikeWalkKC to gather community input about where B-cycle, or bike share stations, should be located.

You may have seen the bike sharing stations downtown where you can borrow a bike for a short trip. As the program moves into the Midtown area, BikeWalkKC will begin installing stations where you can go to get a bike to use for running errands, going to meetings, exercise or for other uses.

We want to know where in your neighborhood you would like to see future bike sharing stations located, and where you think you would go on the bikes located in your neighborhood. Your answers to these questions will help in planning future bike share locations.
