Its almost time for spring painting,  and the city is reminding residents that they may be eligible for its free paint program.

Homeowners must complete an application to receive paint, primer, caulking and other supplies related to the painting of their home (with the total cost not exceeding $500). Applicants must live in Kansas City, own and live in the property to be painted, own only one property and meet certain HUD guidelines.

Paint recipients must make all necessary repairs and properly prepare their houses for painting prior to receiving their supplies. After an inspector determines houses are ready to be painted, vouchers will be awarded to homeowners, allowing them to choose an in-store color of Porter paint; no color matching will be done.

For more information and to get an application, call the City’s Housing and Energy Conservation Section at 816-513-3025.
