Aim4Peace gets $1.2 million grant

The city said today its Aim4Peace program has been awarded a $1.2 million grant to expand its violence prevention programs within the east patrol district of the Kansas City Police Department.

The three-year grant from the U.S. Department of Justice focuses on getting high risk youth involved in violence prevention efforts.

The grant will provide resources to allow Aim4Peace, which previously operated primarily in East Patrol District Sector 330, to also reach into Sectors 320 and 340. By encouraging teen involvement in violence prevention outreach and interaction with the community, the program will promote alternatives to violence to help make communities safer, according to the city.
